Notting Hill Carnival
There ain’t no party quite like a Carnival party, and Europe’s biggest street festival on 24th & 25th August won’t disappoint. Since 1964 the capital’s Afro-Carribean communities have celebrated their culture with this two day vivid spectacle which shouldn’t be missed. Visitors can sample traditional Caribbean food while enjoying the famous procession and amazing music ranging from reggae to calypso.

Camden Beach
If you’re in the capital, and you can’t get to the seaside – then let the beach come to you!
Saturday 23rd is last day to enjoy the delights of this urban beach in the RoundHouse, Camden. Made using 150 tonnes of fine sand, this man-made beach is complete with deck chairs, beach huts, live music, pop up restaurants and the usual traditional seaside amusements.

Leeds & Reading Festivals
Get ready to rock! The annual Leeds Festival at Bramham Park is a highlight of the August Calandar.
Spread across two sites and a dozen stages, this year’s headliners include Artic Monkeys, Imagine Dragons, Queens of the Stone Age and many more. Reading is sold out but there are still some day tickets available for Leeds.

Summer in Southside
This extravangza of dance, acrobats and circus performances takes place again on the streets and squares near the Birmingham Hippodrome. Experience a spectacle of innovative performances as over 100 artists transform the city’s vibrant southside district.

Edinburgh Fringe Festival
The largest festival in the world concludes this weekend with its showcase of arts and entertainment to suit every taste. Enjoy witnessing some of the comedy hopefuls persuing their dreams, or take in the 152nd international exhibition of photography which celebrates the very best of modern photography.

Brecon Beacons Summer Fayre, Wales, 29-31st August
It’s all happening in the glorious surroundings of this national park over the bank holiday weekend. There will be over 70 stands near the visitor centre at Libanus showcasing an array of local food, arts and crafts. For kids there are traditional Punch and Judy shows, and they can try face-painting, badge-making and pottery turning. They even have a vintage 1950s double-decker bus to play in, as well as wonderful Welsh produce on offer too.

Goodwood Racing, Goodwood nr Chichester
Dust off your flounciest vintage skirts and dapper double breasted suits for Goodwood’s ‘50’s three day festival. As well as a top calandar of magnificent racing, there is a fantastic choice of traditional 1950’s entertainment planned for the whole family. From an old-fashioned funfair complete with helter skelter and corousel, as well as a replica beach front complete with beach huts, there is also a soundtrack of great musical acts performing a full set after each day’s race.
